The Basics

A Workspace is everything you need to run your business delivered over the internet for a low monthly fee. Often referred to as ‘Hosted Desktop’, ‘Virtual Desktop’ and 'Desktop as a Service'.

Each staff member will be given access to their own Workspace which includes;

  • A Microsoft Windows Desktop accessible from virtually any internet enabled device.
  • Microsoft Office Professional 2007 suite of applications.
  • Microsoft Exchange Email with advanced Anti Virus & Anti SPAM filtering. Email can be accessed via Outlook within the Desktop or via Outlook Web Access and mobile devices.
  • Every Hosted Desktop comes with pooled file storage and company wide permission based file sharing comes as standard.
  • Additional applications such as Sage, TAS Books, CRM or virtually any other line of business application can be delivered to selected users on request.
  • An optional Thin Client PC or Netbook.

No. It is much much more than remote access. Remote Access solutions require you to have a PC or Server turned on 24/7. With Workspace Anywhere your Workspace is contained in a secure and highly resilient data centre where it is available from almost any internet enabled device. Furthermore we take care of licensing, patching, upgrading and the general maintenance of your virtual IT infrastructure.

Yes. Workspace Anywhere is a type of Cloud Computing and very much embodies what Cloud Computing is all about.

Thin Client PC’s are small low powered devices with no moving parts that allow you to connect to your Workspace. A Netbook is like a laptop except smaller, lighter and very often with no moving parts. Both devices allow you to access your Workspace quickly and are easily replaced if lost, stolen or broken.

You can access your Workspace in the following ways;

  • Go to workspaceanywhere.com and click the login link at the top of the page.
  • Type https://login.workspaceanywhere.com into your browsers address bar.
  • Request that we set up a custom URL unique to your company.

Yes. Access to your Workspace requires an internet connection. However it is possible to synchronise your files to a local machine so that you can work offline.

No. Staff will not have to do anything they are not already familiar with so there is little training required or resistance from users.

Absolutely. Because your Workspace is delivered from the data centre you can use any low spec PC with an internet connection. We do offer you the use of one of our Thin Clients or Netbooks.

Yes. Even big print jobs.

You can easily add from 1 to 1000+ users, the system is highly scalable.


Security

Very. User logins are protected by 256bit encryption – as secure as online banking. All data sent over the session is fully encrypted and therefore secure from prying eyes. Data is stored in a highly secure data centre with manned 24/7 security, biometric access control and enterprise grade firewalls. In short, you can rest assured that your data will be safe and secure.

Yes, of course. You have the same level of folder and file access control as you have in a traditional client-server network.

No they cannot. And this is another great benefit of Workspace Anywhere.  Staff can no longer install iTunes or other non work related applications (unless you allow it).

No. Every Workspace comes with Anti Virus protection. Furthermore, every time you access your Workspace you are accessing a brand new desktop. Only files and user settings are ever saved. Viruses and other malware are not.


Peace of Mind

No. All of your email, files and applications are securely backed up to a remote site.

Workspace Anywhere IS a Disaster Recover solution in its own right. If there is a disaster at where you work then all you need to do is replace the hardware (we will help with that) or allow staff to work from home or an alternative office until the situation is resolved.

We take care of all Microsoft Windows & Office licensing. Licensing for other line of business applications (Sage, TAS etc) can be managed by Workspace Anywhere, if requested.
